Great Lakes Commission | Commission des Grands Lacs Since 1955, the Great Lakes Commission has dedicated its efforts toward securing a clean environment, strong economy, and high quality of life for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region and its citizens. An eight-state compact agency founded in state and federal law, the Commission represents the collective views of the eight Great Lakes states. A newly established Associate Membership program provides for enhanced Canadian provincial involvement and a binational focus.
